An Englishman lost his life on Friday afternoon while diving in Ċirkewwa. At the time of the incident the 56-year-old man was diving with a group of people.
As soon as he started experiencing difficulties at sea, a boat came to his rescue and ferried him to the shore. Once on dry land, an ambulance rushed him to St. Luke’s Hospital. However despite all medical efforts, the man passed away briefly after his arrival in hospital.
The man had been holidaying in Malta. An autopsy on his body is expected to be carried out on Saturday.
Duty Magistrate Giovanni Grixti appointed various experts to assist in an inquiry.
Police investigations continue.
