MMA probes death of Italian man on roro vessel

The Merchant Shipping Directorate of the Malta Maritime Authority (MMA) has launched an Independent investigation into the death of a 63-year-old Italian man who died at Laboratory Wharf, Kordin, onboard the roro vessel mv Jolly Blu.

The accident took place on Saturday when the Chief Officer was caught under the rear wheel of a trailer driven by a 37-year-old man from Żebbuġ. The trailer was on board a ship. The man was certified dead on site.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti was also informed of the case and appointed several experts to assist in an inquiry.

The police are also investigating.
