48 persons arraigned in Court over immoral acts

48 persons were arraigned in Court on Saturday evening in connection with immoral acts carried out in public.

This follows raids by the Police in a number of establishments in Paceville and Qawra during the night between Friday and Saturday.

The persons held are 39 women whose ages vary between 19 and 24. The women are from Slovakia, Romania, Czech Republic, Hunagry, Poland, Estonia and Morocco. There was also a Maltese woman from Sliema.

Also 9 men were arraigned accused of organising brothels. Eight of them were Maltese and one Serbian.

The raids were carried out during the early hours of Saturday morning between 01:15CET and 03:00CET.

Further police investigations are under way.
