Ten refugees living in Malta will be resettled in Ireland in the upcoming days. The refugees were interviewed and subsequently granted approval to be resettled in Ireland by the Maltese government.

Earlier this month it was announced that six illegal immigrants would be resettled in Lithuania. In turn, other refugees were also resettled in Holland and Germany earlier on in the year. Furthermore, another group of refuges is expected to be resettled in the United States of America.

In a joint statement the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this latest development shows how the burdens of migration in Malta are being eased through bilateral contacts.

The Ministries also thanked the Irish government for its solidarity.
