Five cars on fire in B’Kara

On Saturday at around 0115 CET, the police were informed that five vehicles were on fire in various streets in B’Kara.

Police preliminary investigations revealed that a Skoda Favorit had for some reason or another caught fire in St Helen’s Square. Consequently, an Opel Kadett and a Toyota Corolla, which were parked nearby, also caught fire.

Meanwhile, another two cars were noted to be on fire. The vehicles were a Fiat 127 which was in Triq tal-Herba and a Morris Marina which caught fire in Tumas Fenech Street.

All vehicles were extensively damaged. No one was injured.

At around the same time, the police were also informed that a number of Bring In Sites in Iklin were also on fire. Members of the Civil Protection Department went on site to control the fires.

Duty Magistrate Dr Michael Mallia was informed of the cases and appointed several experts to help him in the inquiry.

The police are still investigating.

Another two vehicles caught fire this week. On Thursday a vehicle was on fire in Carmelo Schembri Street, Mosta and on Friday morning a vehicle parked in Bella Vista Street in San Ġwann was also on fire. No one was injured.
