Works on the present stretch of the Victoria-San Lawrenz road has reached its final stages as the last layer of tarmac was placed recently. Besides providing a major improvement to the quality of life for Gozitans, the road is expected to provide a better driving experience to all the islands’ visitors. This is one of the first infrastructural projects to be carried out in Malta through European Union funds.

Works in the Victoria-San Lawrenz roadCurrently, embellishment works are being carried out on the roundabout constructed in this road at the Għasri junction, which besides serving as a safety feature causing drivers to slow their speed, also helps to control and manage traffic flow to and from the small village of Għasri. This roundabout was constructed after land was expropriated to provide a more comfortable and secure traffic flow for all vehicles, including trucks and coaches, on the way to and from the villages of Għasri, Għarb or San Lawrenz.

In the coming days, works involving the installation of road lighting as well as road markings will be carried out. Other embellishment works including the construction of rubble walls along the road and the laying of a variety of plants will follow.

In the coming days, further works will start in another part of the Victoria-San Lawrenz route – starting from the tree at the Ta’ Pinu junction towards Għarb.
