A 19-year-old girl lost her life following an early morning accident. According to police preliminary investigations Jeanette Mifsud of Dingli fell off from a bastion in a place known as Taħt iż-Żiemel in Mediterranean Street, Valletta at around 0200 CET.

Members from the Civil Protection Department and the ambulance were immediately called on site, however, the youth was certified dead on site.

In turn, two police officers were badly hurt while they were trying to stop a foreign man who was driving with excessive speed in Paceville. The man ignored the police orders several times.

After a while, the police managed to arrest the driver. However, two police officers were seriously injured but not in danger of dying, while two other police officers and three persons were slightly injured.

Magistrate Dr Lawrence Quintano was informed of the two cases and appointed several experts to assist him in the inquiry.

Police investigations are still underway.
