Over Lm151,000 collected for Dar tal-Providenza

Over Lm 151,000 were collected for the Dar tal-Providenza, the Siggiewi home for disabled persons which annually needs about Lm 1.6 million to cover its expenses. The climax of the campaign was reached during the home’s annual open day which is held on January 1 and which fell on Sunday this year.

The event which was televised on local television was organised by Radju tal-Knisja (RTK). Many contributed to the day with several persons from the entertainment scene amusing the people who visited the complex while hundreds called to give donations throughout the day.

Throughout the marathon which ended at 0000 CEST, visits were made by President Edward Fenech Adami, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, Opposition Party Leader Dr Alfred Sant and Archbishop Mgr Joseph Mercieca.

Last year, the home had a deficit of more than Lm 300,000.
