On Tuesday morning the front door of a residence in Qormi was set on fire. Qormi Mayor Mr. Jesmond Aquilina and his family were the targeted by the vandal act. Fortunately they were not injured in the incident. Preliminary Police investigations revealed that flammable material was placed in front of the residence’s front door in Triq il-Kbira and subsequently lit by an unknown person.

The same family managed to extinguish the flames, which erupted just before 0200CET.

Duty Magistrate Dr Michael Mallia was informed of the case and appointed various experts to assist him in an inquiry.

The Qormi District police are investigating.

Seven months ago, the same family was also involved in another arson attack.
