19-year-old seriously injured in shooting

19-year-old Ignatious Joseph Fenech from Sliema was seriously injured after he was shot on Saturday morning. The young man was initially on danger-list, however his condition has since improved. The incident occurred in Ponsombi Street, Gzira, just before noon. The young man was involved in a row with a 30-year-old man from Birkirkara, who allegedly shot on the Sliema youth. At the time of the shooting, the Ignatious Joseph Fenech was in a car with a 10-year-old boy.

The 30-year-old man who allegedly shot the youngster was in another car at the time of the incident. Prior to the shooting, the two men had an alleged violent exchange in a Sliema bar. An alleged car-chase also ensued between the two men after the youngster placed his deposition.

The youth was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital where he was initially in danger of dying. His condition improved during the afternoon and he is now in stable condition.

Duty Magistrate Giovanni Grixti, ordered an iqnuiry and appointed various experts to assist him.

Police investigations are ongoing.
