The first Tamiflu consignment has arrived in Malta and is being kept in government stores. "Malta is now better equipped against the possibility of a pandemic," the Health Division said in a press release.

The Health Division reassured the public again that according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), despite the developments of the virus in Turkey in the last few days, the risk of a pandemic remains unchanged.

While Tamiflu is the drug several countries are counting on to prevent an outbreak of pandemic flu, it may not however provide guaranteed prevention against the mutated H5N1 virus as the virus appears to be developing resistance to the drug.
