Freeport authorities intercepted seven stowaways who arrived on board two cargo ships that arrived in Malta on Friday morning between 0200 CET and 0700 CET.

Two of the seven stowaways were seen jumping from the ship ‘North Africa 2’, while the other five men were observed fleeing from the vessel ‘Antares’. Both ships arrived in Malta from Algeria.

The illegal immigrants were handed over to the Immigration Police and later they were sent back on board the two ships.

Last week, five stowaways were intercepted at the Freeport whilst leaving a container that had just been unloaded from a sea vessel.
