The government announced the revised fuel prices for the month of February. The price per litre of lead replacement petrol will go up by 1c, from 49c6 to 50c6. A litre of diesel will cost 41c9 from 40c5, up by 1c4, while the unleaded petrol will also increase by 1c, from 46c6 to 47c6. The increase in fuel prices followed a calculation of the price that Enemalta paid this month to buy crude oil.
In a press release published by the Department of Information, it was also stated that the price of kerosene will also increase by 1c4, up from 40c1 to 41c5 per litre, while the price of the Light Heating Oil will remain unchanged, 23c9 per litre.
The price of two of the three thin fuel oil will go up by Lm1.50 per ton, from Lm150.00 to Lm151.50 (450 deg), and by Lm4.00, from Lm142.00 to Lm146.00 (950deg). The other thin fuel oil (200 deg) will remain the same, Lm155 per ton.
With regards to petrol products, the changes incude the excise duty decrease (0c125 excluding VAT). This is the second reduction in transitory excise duty and is aimed to make up for the introduction of the fuel surcharge on electricity.
