AFM rescue 185 illegal immigrants

185 illegal immigrants landed in Delimara on Sunday at around 2130 CET after they were rescued by the Armed Forces of Malta. The boat with the illegal immigrants on board, started to drown around 19 nautical miles to the south-west of Malta.

The illegal immigrants, 165 men, four women and 16 under age are claiming that they are coming from the African continent. One of the women is expecting a child.

The police said that as soon as the illegal immigrants landed in Delimara, they were given assistance also by the police and the health department. An ambulance was called immediately on site.

The illegal immigrants were taken to the AFM barracks.
