Illegal immigrants caught at Freeport

A group of 12 stowaways were intercepted by Malta Freeport security personnel following intensive searches. The illegal immigrants were noticed escaping from a ship loaded with containers that had just arrived from Algeria. The men hid in one of the containers throughout the journey.

The illegal immigrants were caught on Monday at around 0300 CET and handed them over the ship’s captain. The latter accepted them back are now being kept on the ship Fas Provence.

This is the fifth case of stowaways at the Malta Freeport this year.
