The Confederation for Malta Trade Unions (CMTU) President John Bencini resigned from his position on Monday. This was announced in a short statement issued by the CMTU, in which it was also stated that more details will be given after the Federation’s National Council to be held on Thursday.

Mr Bencini has been appointed as CMTU President in February last year, following the sudden death of former president Alfred Buhagiar.

This is the second resignation of a trade union member in the past weeks, following the resignation of Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin (UĦM) General Assistant Secretary Joe Grillo.
