The prehistoric megalithic temples of Ħaġar Qim in Malta are mentioned amongst the World Heritage Sites that are threatened by the effects of climate change, according to UNESCO as reported by BBC.
UNESCO also stated that Hagar Qim risk to be destroyed completely due to desertification and changes to rainfall and temperature.
Sagarmatha National Park in the Himalayas, the Belize Barrier Reef, Huascarán National Park in Peru, and the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park on the US/Canada border are threatened by human emissions of greenhouse gases.
The Tower of London, Venice and other sites around the world are threatened by floods, while Australia's Great Barrier Reef, Greenland's Ilulissat Ice Fjord, and Mount Kilimanjaro are also added to the list of sites that are threatened by climate change.
Currently, United Nations experts are meeting to determine the risks that climate change could cause to world’s sites and to discuss actions to be taken to lessen the threats. The actions that will be proposed during this meeting, will be presented at the annual World Heritage Committee meeting due in July.
