A woman, 55, was found dead in her residence in the limits of Mgarr in a place known as Il-Bokka taċ-Ċarċara. Maria Agius was found on her bed with her face covered in blood.

The woman’s brothers and sisters suspected that something was amiss when they had not seen her for two weeks. Her nephew, Alan Buhagiar, who is a police sergeant with the Mobile Squad, went to look in on his aunt and found her dead on her bed. He had to force open the door when she didn’t reply.

Members of the Police Mobile squad and the Mosta Police Station were called on the scene. Also investigating is the Forensic Unit led by Inspector John C. Ellul. Police investigations are being led by Superintendent Neville Aquilina and Inspectors Paul Bond and Chris Pullicino.

Magistrate Dr. Antonio Mizzi was informed about the case, and he appointed various experts, including Dr. Mario Scerri and architect Dr. Richard Aquilina, to assist him with the inquiries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
