Arson attacks on the rise

Two apparent arson attacks took place in the early hours of Friday. These fires follow other similar incidents in recent weeks.

At around 00:30CET the Police were informed of fire in Ta’ Brija Street, Siggiewi. It resulted that a front door of a house and a garage door adjoining were damaged. However, the fire was controlled by the family living in the same house.

A few hours later at around 04:00CET, the Police were informed of another arson attack on a private vehicle in Archbishop Scicluna Street, Qormi. The vehicle, an Isuzu Gemini was heavily damaged. Two facades and another vehicle nearby were also lightly damaged.

No one was injured in either incident. Duty Magistrate Dr. Joe Cassar was informed of both cases. Police are investigating.
