Investigations on the reported weeping of human blood by the statue of the Madonna continue as witnesses to the case were again summoned this week for a hearing by Mgr Carmelo Zammit, the Curia chancellor, Maltarightnow revealed.
The news website reports that Angelik and Catherine Caruana, who reside in Triq San Pietru, Birzebbuga , and whose statue in their house reportedly shed tears of human blood, were amongst the witnesses.
Initial investigations led by Chancellor Zammit and published in an decree on the 11th April, concluded that the January phenomenon did not indicate a supernatural intervention. However, six days later, the Immaculate Conception statue shed tears again . Investigations about this second incident are still being carried out.
Following the first occurance, Angelik and Catherine Caruana had asked for their blood samples to be taken for scientific testing.
The Caruana couple are declining to speak to the news media and said that they will only speak at the right moment.
