A 50-year-old British woman was found in possession of about 5000 ecstasy pills at Malta International Airport on Saturday afternoon.

The woman, who has Maltese relatives, had just arrived from a flight that departed form the United Kingdom. The police, together with officials form the Custom’s enforcement section stopped the woman and found the pills inside a soft toy she was carrying.

The police said they had been investigating the case for days and the pills were probably meant to be sold in Malta.

The police are still investigating.
