On Saturday evening, Fabrizio Faniello delivered a splendid performance of his song I Do at the Eurovision Song Contest Final in Athens, Greece. Fabrizio sang seventh and gave a very similar, energetic show to the one he had in the last dress rehearsal just a few hour earlier.
Doubts on Fabrizio’s costume were ironed out and he performed without the waistcoat, after the original wardrobe choice, first revealed on Friday afternoon, attracted a chorus of disapproval.
Fabrizio’s performance outshined the previous six entries, but tougher competition is expected from Germany, Sweden, the hosting country Greece and the white elphant of this year’s edition, Finland.
Speaking to MaltaMedia.com immediately after the Malta's performance, Norman Hamilton said, "This was a good show. Now we wait for the votes and hope all the hard work will be rewarded. It's going to be tough."
OGAE-Malta Eurovision fan club president Deo Grech added, "from all the songs we've seen so far, ours was the best. Fabrizio looks like a super radiant matador and his voice was all there. Malta deserves to be in the top 10!"
Besides Fabrizio there is another Maltese singer taking part in the final on Saturday night. Keith Camilleri is one a band of six international singers representing Switzerland. They appeared as the first competing song of the night.
People in Malta can vote for their favourite song (except the Maltese one) by calling 5004-32XX (landline) or 5061-55XX (SMS); XX should be replaced by the number of the song you want to vote for. Each viewer may vote up to 20 times. The 21st call will not be valid.
38 countries will vote and it will take a long time to know the final result. It will surely be past midnight into Sunday.
