Despite a number of calls for his resignation earlier on this year, Mr. Robert Abela has been reappointed chairman of the MaltaSong Board for the period between 2006 and 2007.
Mr. Abela’s post was reconfirmed by Minister for Tourism and Culture Francis Zammit Dimech on Friday.
Various calls were made for Mr. Robert Abela’s resignation from the board after Malta placed last in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with Fabrizio Faniello’s “I Do”. Yielding just one point, the result was the worst ever for Malta throughout its participation in the festival.
Mr. John Demanuele will be holding the post of Deputy Chairman. Other board members include Adrian Attard Trevisan, Steve Aquilina, Nadette Bugeja, Joseph Dalmas, Frans Fenech, Anton Miceli, Marbeck Spiteri and Mike Spiteri.
