MaltaMedia founder Toni Sant has exclusively podcast an interview he made with Charles Arrigo back in June 1990. This interview is one of three they recorded during the radio series Il-Fil tat-Tiġdid, which was broadcast on Radio Malta between 1990 and 1991. Arrigo was the first official guest on the series produced by Toni Sant to mark the end of Malta's cable radio service and the introduction of cable television to the Maltese islands.

The interview deals mainly with the popular game show 20 Questions, which in Malta is synonymous with Arrigo, even though there were other versions of the game show over the years. In this picture on the left he appears during one of the first recordings made in 1957 at the Rediffusion studios in Valletta. The panel in that first series, entitled Hawn Ħaġa, included the actress Ineż Soler, her husband Guido Saliba, and Alexander Cachia Zammit.
Charles Arrigo was Toni Sant’s former boss at Xandir Malta. Sant says Arrigo now deserves every eulogy he gets. "Broadcasting and culture in Malta would have been very very different without Charles Arrigo in the last 60 years," he commented on his blog last Monday.
Veteran broadcaster Charles Arrigo passed away at the age of 76 on Monday February 13 following a heart attack he suffered while he was at the buildings of the Public Broadcasting Services in Gwardamangia.
Charles Arrigo’s death leaves a void in the local broadcasting scene, in which he played a major part since 1947. During his career, Mr Arrigo was the commentator of various significant events that occurred in Malta, including Malta’s Independence in 1964 and when Malta was made Republic in 1974. He was also the first Maltese television announcer in 1962.
