Faniello to perform during Greece Song Festival

Maltese representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 Fabrizio Faniello is currently in Athens to perform during Greece’s National Song Festival to be held on Tuesday evening.

Fabrizio Faniello accompanied by Maltese singer Mike Spiteri, arrived in Athens on Monday night. Mr Spiteri is a member of the MaltaSong Board and he took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 1995, in which he placed 10th.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday morning Fabrizio Faniello was interviewed by producer Tasos Trifanos, on Greek radio station Love Radio.

Oikotimes.com reported that during the interview, Faniello revealed that his friend Alex will organise the show on the stage for the final night. It was also reported that positive comments have been sent to the radio station during the interview.

Faniello’s visit in Greece follows a performance during Latvia's final contest on March 11. His next visiting countries will be Lithuania, Belarus and Estonia.

This year, the semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place on May 18, while the final has been scheduled for May 20. Malta will participate only during the final night since last year, Chiara with her song Angel placed second. Fabrizio Faniello will represent Malta with the song ‘I Do’, written and composed by the singe himself and Aldo Spiteri.

Meanwhile, Irish singer Johnny Logan is expected to make an exclusive appearance on Maltese television programme Bla Agenda, according to The Times of Malta, as reported by oikotimes.com Johnny Logan, 50, is known as Mr Eurovision since he won the Eurovision contest three times, twice as a singer and another time as a composer and songwriter. Bla Agenda’s presenter Norman Hamilton stated that on Saturday, the programme will focus on the Eurovision Song Contest and also on the Malta Song for Europe. In fact, former chairpersons of the MaltaSong Board, Gaetano Abela, Charlò Bonnici, Grace Borg and present chairman Robert Abela will be guests during the same programme.
