Following the recent appointment of Mr Sam Mifsud as Chairman of the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) in July, on Thursday Mr David Mifsud was declared the new Chief Executive Officer for the Authority. Like Mr. Sam Mifsud, Mr. David Mifsud will take up office on the 1st September 2006.

Mr. David Mifsud started his professional career with Joe Tabone and Co and The Winston Group of Restaurants before joining Merit Malta Ltd in 1979 as Finance Manager.

In 1986 he was appointed Finance and Human Resources Director, a position he continued to occupy until 1998 when he was appointed Managing Director of Methode Electronics Malta Ltd, formerly known as Merit Malta Ltd.

Mr David Mifsud, who is married and has three children, is also a Council Member of the Federation of Industries.

Last month, a number of media speculated that a new CEO had been chosen following the resignation for former CEO Mr. Romwald Lungaro Mifsud. Mr. Lungaro Mifsud had also occupied the post of Chairman during his term as CEO.
