The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) board has tendered its resignation after recent divulging of confidential information to the press. Minister for Tourism and Culture Dr Francis Zammit Dimech accepted the resignations, stating that the leakages have harmed the MTA and have limited to great extent the effectiveness of the Board.

MTA Chairman Mr Sam Mifsud, who remains in office, had taken strong exception to the leakages that have been occurring over the past weeks.

A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister added that the leakages persisted even after an investigation was being carried out to identify the precise source.

The resignations were submitted by all board members.
