Public Transport to and from Valletta will run until 0230CET between the 6th and 7th January, as Tre Re – Notte Magica unfolds in the capital city. It is estimated that 20,000 persons missed out on last October’s Notte Bianca specifically because they couldn’t reach Valletta, while public transport usage was scarce with just 26.6% catching buses.

Speaking on Wednesday, Minister for tourism and Culture Francis Zammit Dimech also announced that the ferry service between Sliema and Marsamxett harbour, as well as Cospicua and Valletta will operate later than usual. Furthermore, the Malta-Gozo ferry service will run until 0000CET.

In a bid to encourage the use of buses the Ministry has furthermore launched a lottery scheme, with winning tickets collecting three prizes of Lm 600, Lm300 and Lm100 respectively. Until 2130CET the standard bus fares apply to all routes. After 2130CET bus fares cost 50 cents per adult and 25 cents per child from 3 to 10 years.

In turn, the necessary emergency precautions, stand-bys and services including fire and rescue, first-aid and ambulances are being organised and will be located around Valletta in fundamentally active zones.

Tre Re – Notte Magica is being organized in collaboration with NnG Promotions, and will run from 1800CET to 0200CET. In contrast to the Notte Bianca, the emphasis on this occasion is leisure and entertainment and the events that will be held throughout the capital city will cater for all age groups. The musical programme will encompass diverse genres, including Rock, Pop, Folk, Big Band Jazz, Rhythm & Blues as well as Classical music, all being staged in Valletta’s main squares and courtyards.

Stages will be set up in Freedom Square , Main Guard also known as St George’s Square, Great Siege Square , St John’s Square and in Merchant Street . Furthermore, concerts will also be held in the courtyards of Auberge D’Italie and that of the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise as well as in the ruins of the Old Opera House.
