The first budget speech by Tonio Fenech as Minister of Finance was delivered on Monday 3rd November 2008. Although this is his first budget as Finance Minister, Mr Fenech has worked closely on the last four budgets, as Parliamentary Secretary along Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi, who previously held the government's finance portfolio.
This year the budget returned to its customary date following last years early budget, which was heavily related to Malta's adoption of the Euro currency on 1st January 2008.
